The Story
Hello everyone, this page is the story of how renovating our farm started.
Before my family and I moved to the country in 2008, we lived in the cities, were our neighbor could practically see through our windows. My parents decided that they both wanted to get out of the suburbs and move somewhere where we could have animals, be able to hunt and have fun.
We looked for a farm for awhile before we found that one that we currently live on. My mom found our farm on a real estate website, the only problem was that it was a "fixer upper." Which was really no problem for my parents considering that the house that we were living in was renovated by my parents. When all of my family went to look at the farm, my parents were hesitant at first because it was a really big job, but they decided to go for it. In the spring of 2008 we had our selves a farm.

When all of my family went to look at the farm, my parents were hesitant at first because it was a really big job, but they decided to go for it. In the spring of 2008 we had our selves a farm.
The first thing that we began to renovate was the original old farm house. After considering all of the damage that the house had, my dad decided to "gut" the house. Meaning that all of the walls were taken down to the studs, all of the electrical and pluming was taken out. We jacked up the house 3 feet, which resulted in us now having 9 foot ceilings. The roof was taken off and a new roof was framed and put up. That is where we stopped. My parents decided to pause and finish all of the other building on the property and then finish the house.
There were 10 buildings on our farm when we bought it. Since buying the farm we have taken down some of them. We also renovated some of them, like our pole shed, the Quonset shed and the tool shed.

Right now we are working on finishing the guest house. The guest house was made out of the Quonset shed. when you walk in the front door you are in living/dining room. The 21 foot knotty pine ceiling, with a awning over the kitchen, pantry, and bathroom makes the guest house look like a cabin in the mountains. But the guest house is not quite done, and that is where I am going to start my Home Improvement Blog.
